A HOUSE FOR THE FAMILY IN NEED FOR SPEED

How to design a house that would offer stimuli to all the senses?

When a young family, after a long search, found a clearing at the edge of a small settlement, by the forest and near a stream, the place felt almost like a promise of home in itself.

From the very first encounter with the site, our focus was on how to listen to its qualities and translate them into architecture. It was crucial that the clients remained open to solutions that may not be self-evident, yet arise directly from the place itself – from its rhythm, light, and proximity to nature.

The ground floor unfolds as a single, flowing space. The kitchen and dining area connect seamlessly to the living terrace, gently approaching the forest edge. The living room is slightly sunken, calm in character, and defined by a strong fireplace. On the same level, the parents’ bedroom is discreetly integrated, with an open bathroom and walk-in wardrobe.

The upper floor, accessed via an open staircase, first reveals itself as a gallery – a space for views, work, and quiet retreat. Set further back are two children’s bedrooms with a shared bathroom.

Alongside carefully framed views and spatial openness, special attention was given to light. Natural light sets the rhythm of the day, while artificial light softly extends it into the evening.

The architectural composition is completed by a unique concrete carport and a formally complementary garden shed – calm companions to the house and its surroundings.
